A Primer (on the Palm of Your Hand)
The four major lines which appear on most people's palms are denoted as follows:
The Life Line
The Life Line appears generally beginning from about halfway between the Thumb and the first finger. It doesn't necessarily start right at the outer edge of the palm, however, that is considered its beginning. Most often the Life Line curves in toward the center of the palm and downward toward the wrist. The simplest piece of information deducible from the life line is to be read from its length. The length of the life line is said to indicate the length of the person’s life.
A life line that ends just before the base of the palm is said to indicate an average life span. The exact number of years is usually drawn from the current average life span where the person lives, and the numbers differ for males and females. From this length, you can proportionately add or deduct years according to the length of the line you see.

This is a good place for a warning!!!
Most people, skeptic or believer, come for a palm reading to hear good news, or at least not bad news. If you are looking at the hand of a middle aged woman, and you see a short life line, and your math indicates that she will die at age 20, think again before you relate this to the owner of the hand.

The Head Line
The Head Line begins just above the life line at or near the edge of the palm between the thumb and first finger. This line crosses the palm mostly horizontally. Palm readers say that the head line is so important that it must appear on the palm. Often the head line is joined with the life line at its beginning. The connected lines indicate that your mind generally rules over your body. The shape of the head line, and the others, tells about that characteristic. In the case of the head line it is said that a straight head line from one side of the palm to the other indicates realistic thinking. A deeper head line indicates a good memory.

The Heart Line
The Heart Line is the horizontal line above the head line. The heart line begins under the first or second finger, (most usually), and almost always continues to the outer edge of the palm, often curling around a bit. The heart line is sometimes called the Love Line, as it indicates a person’s status and attitude(s) toward love.

The Health Line
The Health Line is the mostly vertical line which begins between the third and fourth fingers and extends downward. It may cross the palm to the base of the thumb. The health line is one of those lines that points to the openness of interpretation of all the signs seen in palm reading.
Apparently, it is common that there is no health line. The texts include statements to the effect of "Don't worry if there is no visible health line. That usually indicates that the person will have/has had no serious health problems."

These are the four “Major” lines on palms. All of them are characterized in the same ways: 1. The line can be divided into three sections, indicating youth, adulthood and old age, traveling from the line’s origin to its end.
2. A strong line indicates good characteristics, while a shallow line doesn’t indicate the opposite.
3. Fractured or segmented lines indicate disruptions in the trait the line represents. Wavy, spiraling or rings in the line also indicate disruptions. Not all disruptions need be considered to be ill fortune.

The Other Lines
After these four the next group of lines which draw great interest are: Fate; Fame; Marriage; Money; Sex; Spirit; Travel, and; Luck.
The Minor Lines
The minor lines do not always appear and their names are: Opposition, Intuition, Escape, and Influence.
